The late Dev Anand's family are planning to return to India post his last rites in London. His son Suneil Anand has recieved Devsaab's ashes. He, along with his mother Mona and sister Devina, will board a flight to Mumbai from London on Tuesday and take a road trip to Nashik for the immersion of the ashes at Ram Ghat in the river Godavari.
Devsaab's Man Friday and close aide, Mohan Churiwala will be escorting the family to Nashik from Mumbai on Wednesday, December 14 The family was heartened to know that many Dev fans in Nashik are eager to help them with last rites and puja arrangements. Tukaram Nakwe from Nashik, whose favourite film is Jewel Thief, is a die-hard fan of the star since childhood. He has put up many hoardings in Nashik City stating how much the fans miss Dev Anand.
Tukaram says, "I am honoured to be of some help to Devsaab's family. It's my good luck that if not during his lifetime, I will at least see his family post his sad demise. I am planning to arrange for the pundits, who will perform the last rites and be by Suneil's side. A trip to Trimbakeshwar temple, too, is on the cards, if the family desires."
Anand's son Suneil in an earlier report from London said, "I loved my father very much, I was very close to him and I miss him a lot," he added in a choked voice, adding that his father was his friend, his mentor and his colleague.
Describing Dev Anand as a workaholic who loved his work, his son said he was very enthusiastic and happy in his last few days. "He was working on a script for his new film. He was happy to be in London and wanted to have a holiday," he said. Suniel, however, did not comment any further on the last rites arrangements in Nashik.
